Technology Center exists to be a place where humanity meets technology
that leads to increased efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of life
for people with disabilities. As the founding Director of KATC, I'm
pleased with how we've grown since our inception in 2001. Though I
officially became Director in 2004, I have been involved in the
planning for what is now Kern Assistive Technology Center since 2000.

It is our goal to make this site feel like you are at our Center. We are constantly working to update and improve it's feel and look to make it as useful to you as possible. From this site you can meet some of the people we've helped, access our loan library, meet our staff, learn about the services we provide and get a glimpse of what we value and see as important. You can also learn about ways you can be a part of our exciting mission. Simply put we want to connect technology to humanity. Whatever the goal of the user of AT we want them to be empowered to lead the quality of life desired with the help of technology.
I'm proud of who we are and what we've accomplished. Each year our dedicated, professional staff, have served more people through the services we offer. We will serve more than 100 people this year with our loan library. We have more than 300 pieces of equipment in it right now and we continue to grow it every year. We offer assessments to individuals with disabilities who need a recommendation to purchase equipment or receive training.
Our budget for 08-09 is around $250,000. Most of our funding is received from public sources.
I encourage you to explore the site. If you are looking for something we don't have here, contact us to let us know so we can improve it. I am always looking for ways to make our organization more effective. I encourage and invite you to come see us in person as soon as you can.
Thank you for your support!
