Loan Library

Begun in the early 1990’s by several of the local service agencies, the idea behind the loan library was to have a central place where assistive technologies could be collected and available for examination and trial. Given to Kern Assistive Technology Center when it was created in 1999, the loan library has today grown and evolved into a fairly comprehensive collection of assistive technologies to assist users read, write and talk.  The library’s collection includes both software and hardware for a variety of disability applications, specialized input/output devices to meet the special needs of the differently-abled, and many other examples of assistive technology.  All of this material is available for loan to qualified clients for the purpose of determining the suitability of the solution in meeting the client’s individualized need. More equipment is being added all the time. If you have a request for a specific item we do not have simply contact us with your request.
